Meet the Review Crew: Corinne Randall

My name is Corinne Randall and I am a Creative Writing (poetry concentration) major and Communication minor. This is my third semester working as an editor at Superstition Review. In the past, I worked as a poetry editor and I not only enjoyed the experience immensely, I grew from it as well. I learned about what it means to be an editor for a literary magazine and that is knowledge I will take with my throughout the rest of my career. I am now a nonfiction editor and am enjoying the different type of content I get to read every week.

Some of my favorite pieces of literature are William Shakespeare’s plays. I have always found them very interesting and I have taken a few classes on the subject. In addition, I enjoy reading books of poetry not only for my own personal enjoyment, but to further increase my writing skills within the genre. I have a goal to one day publish a book of poetry and I believe the best way to do so is to learn from those who have already done so.

Since this is my final semester here at ASU, I am thinking about what to do with my future after I graduate in December. As of now, pursuing an MA in Literature seems to be my main focus, with hopes to eventually teach writing or literature classes.

I look forward to Issue 10 of SR and I am honored to be a part of the process.

    Hi, Corinne!
I’m taking a Shakespeare class at the moment and I’m really enjoying it. Do you have a favorite play? Mine is Othello. Do you also have any books of poems suggestions? I enjoy humor and I feel like I can never find any humorous poems. Good luck on your final semester and nice to meet you:)

Hi Sophia!! I am so glad to hear you are enjoying your Shakespeare class. I took two of them here at ASU and I can honestly say they were two of my favorites! My favorite play is also Othello…I have read it about four times. The story always fascinates me.

A book a poetry that I HIGHLY recommend is “The Lesser Fields” by Rob Schlegel. It’s gorgeous. I have read it about three times now and I can’t get enough! It’s not humorous but I think you will enjoy it nonetheless 🙂

Nice to meet you too and have a fantastic semester!

      Hi Rikki!

Thank you for your kind words. Working for Trish and Superstition Review has been the best experience I have had at ASU. It’s been so rewarding and I have learned so much. Poetry and Nonfiction are beautiful genres and it’s been an honor focusing on both.

      Nice to meet you!

Hey Corinne, I think we were in the same Shakespeare class with Demeter last semester. It’s so nice to be acquainted with people who have the same literary interests and deep appreciation for authors as influential as Shakespeare. I hope you continue to have fun with your work with Superstition Review and good luck with everything you pursue in the future.

Helo! Yes, I do remember you! Thst was a fantastic class, Demeter made it so fun and interesting. It was a class that I looked forward to going to in the morning. Are you an English major or did you take the class just to pursue your literary interests?

I hope your semester is going great! Thank you for your kind words 🙂

Three semesters, wow! It seems like a big change to go from poetry to nonfiction but it’s amazing how well-written work can be enjoyed no matter what your main literary interests are.

Hi, Corinne! I think it’s awesome that you’ve interned SR for three semesters! Do you prefer poetry or nonfiction? I’m not too fond of Shakespeare’s plays, but I do enjoy his poetry. I hope your final semester goes well, and good luck with all of your future endeavors!

      Hello Mai-Quyen!

Working for SR for three semesters has been incredible! I am going to be so sad in December when I graduate and I have to say good-bye…but I will forever keep up with and support SR!

I really love both poetry and nonfiction and it’s been very rewarding being able to focus on both genres…but if I HAD to pick one…I would say poetry is my favorite literary genre (I guess that’s because it’s also my major!) But I have actually gained a lot by working with nonfiction this semester and I am having a blast doing it.

      Thanks for your kind words!

      Corinne
